(FranchisePick.Com) If you are a Pure Weight Loss customer who is owed a refund for prepaid Pure Weight Loss program fees, incentives and/or food products, here’re some things you can do.
Contact Your local Pure Weight Loss center
The centers are open limited hours M W F & Sat until January 4, when they close for good. If you are owed food products they may have some on hand, or else you’ll need to get a refund request. Be nice… the employees were just as shocked as you… and they’re out of a job.
Get a Refund Request from your local Pure Weight Loss center
A Pure Weight Loss customer service representative I spoke to today recommended getting a Refund Request form from your local center and filling it out and submitting it to the corporate office in PA as soon as possible. She said the centers are open limited hours M W F & Sat until January 4, when they close for good. Processing could take up to 8 weeks.
Contact the Pure Weight Loss corporate office
Contact the Pure Weight Loss customer service line at 1-877-524-3571 and/or email them at custservice@pureweightloss.com. (The rep I spoke to was very nice. She would be out of work after Jan. 4. When she learned I was local, she asked if I was hiring. You may want to act quickly.)
Contact Your Credit Card Company
If you paid with a credit card, call the credit card company and explain the situation. Be ready with the specifics of what you paid for that you didn’t receive. They may be able to charge back the merchant’s account and issue you a credit. It’s an advantage of paying with credit cards.

I was informed by a friend yesterday about the closing after the center closed at 1pm. I went this morning for 8 am and found a note saying for this past week they were only open wed and yesterday til 1pm. I work a full time job. They were not opened this morning. So they have not even called me and I was told they were only calling those clients who had been in recently. So If they are not open next week except for possibly Wednesday how are they going to have the form for clients to fill out especially if they don’t have friends like I did so that they know this is even going on. Plus I was told there are no lites only breakfast bars. Of which when I was on the diet for about 3 months they told me I shouldn’t really get those for they are starch and they count as too much start when you are at the purple level. So why would I trade my money for those? I’m upset that they are not making themselves available at all for people to come in. Nor are they contacting people in a timely manner. If you don’t know you lose. They should be on those damn phones calling all those clients and staying open normal hours to help them out that is if the employees really care and feel bad.

I have been going since 2005 and always felt it was successful. I lost 30 then had a baby and was on my second go around losing the 30 ( i am only 20 in) when I switched to Pure online which i was doing monthly and purchasing products as I needed them. thank goodness I did not pay for a year of the online service. It is a shock because I think it really does work and has helped many.

I went to the Bala Cynwd office on 12/31/07 and they were already closed they owe me 680.00 and the only reason I know they were closing is a friend of mine told me They didn’t mail out any info or the refund forms

I have been an off and on member since 2002. I had success on the program in the past . I lost 50lbs. It really upsets me that I was not notified of the closing. I have several weight loss weeks as well as 6 weeks stabilization and 52 maintence weeks left. I also have over 10 boxes of the Lite Bars left. It really upsets me that I will not probably get a refund. I mean they claim they will mail out a refund form but, what are the chnaces that everyone will be refunded probably. I think there sould be a law suit against the corporate office. I’m annoyed and upset.

This is such BS! I went in after being very ill for a month and the sign on the door said they had been closed and there was not a thing in the building! The number for customer service is pointless!!! NO ONE answers, returns calls, NOTHING! THIS WAS A HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE scam! They took people’s money and RAN! Luckily, almost all my time with LA Weightloss is up… I am sure I have money to be refunded, but how am I to do that when I can’t even get a hold of anyone!?!?!?! I hope the company realizes that they are in for a serious lawsuit!!!!!!!

My daughter started working at PWL Aug.28 as well as being a client. No one knew about the closing..On Dec.12 thats when they received the call..Talk about a shock. She cried as she loved her job and her clients. PWL is NOT going to send anything out to anyone, my daughter is also losing her health plan as PWL isnt offering anything. I sent a package back to them Dec6th..$229.95..they told me i woul b reimbursed in 15 days..Never got my money and just found out NO refunds have been sent out as Co-op has them and doesnt know when there going out. I feel for everyone, but not the CEO..Very insensitive…Trust me no one knew until that phone call came on Dec. 12. So plz dont wait for mail PWL isnt sending anything..That shows how much they cared. My account was suspened per my doctor from December 1, 07 only for one month. I called Jan 4th to tell them I was returning on Jan 5, 08 find that they were closing that day. I needed my client Id # from them. I could not even get that. I was on my way to work and could not go into an office before 1:00 pm, which is the time they were closing. When I called the representative said they were busy and to call back. I did not get an answer. They still owe me 10 weeks. I feel they were awful.

LA Weightloss was a huge success for me. I lost 70lbs, but am devastated by their abandoment of my services prior to my completion of weight loss. I still have to loose the remaining few pounds, need their advisement on the transition into stabilization and then the full year of maintainance which I was required to pay UPFRONT over a year before hand. I feel bad for the employees who were given no more notice than the clients. Problem now is, they will probably find another job and without the stabilization and maintainance, I will probably find the 70lbs I lost!! This is DEVASTATING. I want the service, not a refund.
P.S. INTEREST should be included being they took and kept my money so far in advance. THIS was a terrible ending to a great and successful program.

Very frustrating for those like me that feel abused with all this situation.
I enrolled on November 30, 2007, starting treatment on December 4, 2007, I paid the whole year of treatment by using the credit card they offered me Care Credit, now I am receiving the statement to pay , I don’t know where to go, and to whom adress my concerns, my refund request was sent on December 21, 2007 to the corporate office, and no body has sent me anything as proof of my refund received.
I’m in south florida, but I can’t find others under the same circunstances I am.
I’m all for a lawsuit

I am irate about this! I can’t believe this. I had placed such high hopes on my weight loss efforts. I was so sure that this would be it for me. You know? I was on LA Weight Loss about 6 years ago and I lost 105 pounds!!!! So I know it works!!! I didn’t do maintanence and I found myself having to come back to loose it again this time, I was 50 pounds in and they told me they were closing. I had over 100 pounds left to go!! I don’t know if I can afford Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, or Medifast, as they all require you to purchase their food. I joined LA because they didn’t and for the one-on-one counseling. So I am bummed. I feel that I have been sabotaged!! Surely, there should be some legal action against this! Please keep me informed!

i was a member for over a year , kept starting and stiopping. each time i went back i rebought the weeks i lost, i called and cancelled my contract the week of nov 20,2007, the regoional manager said she would process my paperwork and refund in approx 8 wks. refund still not here at 7 wks so i tried to call. low and behold all centers are closed and i have no refund. if a lawsuit starts please let me know as i want to be involved. they took our money and it isnt theirs. when i cancelled is till had 6 weight loss weeks, 6 stablization and 52 maintenance weeks paid for, since i kept repaying when i came back i was always current, never even got into stablization. i also have 4 boxes of the 14 bars they owed me for. any lawsuit starts please email me at [email withheld] so i can be on the bandwagon. in my opinion they are thieves plain ans imple, forget getting anyone on the phone, its impossible

Sent email to pureweightloss. receive no respond. Called the # busy signal. Been trying to get a refund application. They have 26 boxes of lite that are paid in full. That they still owe me for. A female at the center called me in December just befor the holidaysto come in to the center to purchase more products. I avised her I will return to the center after the holidays and not one time did she avised me of the center closing . Don’t bother sending in the refund form work to the company. We just received our Certified Mail that required a signature back to us. I have closed our credit card account and have filed a complaint with them. I am also in the process of filing with the Attorney Generals Office.

I just want to let everyone out there know, that the Attorney General’s office of PA has filed a class action lawsuit against Pure Weight Loss. I had contacted them in Dec about myself. They want everyone who has been duped by this company to get in touch with them and especially those who were sold contracts after DEC 15th! Thanks.

I sent in the refund applications for $532 via certified mail, return receipt requested. I got my letter back two weeks later saying “undeliverable” marked on it. My husband, a postmaster, said that probably no one would sign for it.

I joined in July 07′ paid over 500 dollors come back for Christmas break and they weree closed. No signs on the door no number to call! Since then I have called and left numerous numbers and got no response, just yesterday I got the refund application. Very very disappointed I feel robbed!

I joined in June 2006 when it was LA Weight Loss. I too have invested a lot of money. When they became Pure Weight Loss, I bought more Lites and I am owed a lot of boxes. I also cannot get any response from the phone numbers that I call. I would like to get in a class action law suit. I am in Ohio. If anyone has information would you please forward to me.

I just recently went to the center to pick up bars due to me after quitting 4 years ago. I signed up in 2003 and thought it was a scam so quit in 2004. I lost weight but the people advising me where horrible and could not lose weight themselves. WHEN I TRIED TO QUIT THEY WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY FOR THE BARS THAT I DID NOT EVEN PICK UP YET. I AM STILL OWED 28 BOXES. I HOPE THAT SOMETHING IS DONE TO THESE CROOKS!!!!!!!!!!

Received a letter back from the Attorney General. It advise me to dispute the charge with my credit card provider. Since I use the CareCredit Card I call there customer service and I was advise that several other people has call and dispute there remaining balance. I was advise they would send out a dispute form an will be working on trying to get the refnded that is due back to us. And make sure to keep a copy and send back to the Attorney General if refund is refuse

Having been a successful LA Weightloss member in the past, I re-signed with Pure Weightloss in Nov07. I too paid several hundres of dollars for weeks and products that I haven’t had the chance use. I called Care Credit and they have an entire department working on PureWeightloss disputes. Care Credit is part of General Electric (ie The Big Boys) and I was informed clients who have already filed disputes were getting money back now. I would definitely call the credit card company if you used one to pay for servics

I am also out to the tune of $1100. I tracked down the address of the owner Vahan Karian through the help of a story ran on Channel 6 Action News. You should see the house this guy lives in in Ambler, PA….beautiful to say the least. That really set me off. I filed a small claims case against him personally as the owner of the company with the Camden County courts yesterday.

I stopped by my local center to find that they were closed and nothing inside. When I got home I went to the web-site and learned they had filed bankruptcy. I was shocked. I wish someone from the center I was going to would have called all their clients to inform them of this so I could have stopped by and picked up my remaining 16 boxes of Lite Bars I already paid for. Does anyone know how I can possibly get a refund for the Lite Bars? Also, does anyone need the following products? I will sell them for $5.00 a bottle plus shipping and handling. I just hate to see them go to waste. They weren’t cheap as you know.

Has anyone heard form the company or received a refund for products they purchased? I think the company should refund its clients. We went to them in good faith andnow they leave their clients high and dry. Their clients should have been informed by their local center as to what was happening so as to pick up the products already paid for.

I don’t know if anyone else filed a complaint with the Attorney General of Pennsylvania. I did and just received a response saying that Pure Weight Loss is in violation of their Consumer Protection Law and they have filed a lawsuit against them seeking full restitution for all customer complaints, along with civil penalties of up to $1,000 per violation, or $3,000 for Senior Citizens. They said they would keep me informed periodically of the status of the case.
