Ana, customer: Hi, me and my sister used to be a member of la weight loss, now pure weight loss. This saturday we went in for our usual weigh in, only to find that the office was closed, called monday, and nobody answered.went online got their 800 # and called they simple said that they closed their California offices. I was so mad they never told us anything. she said their services were now going to be over ther phone, i think this is very deceitful and wrong. if anyone has any advice on what we can do to get a refund please let us know. Thank you. Dec 12, 2007 at 1:02 pm

Dalya Riley, ex-employee: I recently quit Pure Weight loss and i have worked for many weight loss companies cause i enjoy seeing people get to their goals. but Pure weight loss turned out to be the biggest crock i ever saw with their high obsene prices and bars that constipate people…. Sorry Pure weight loss, but you know a tree by its fruit and your tree says fraud! Dec 15, 2007 at 9:06 am

Martin W, customer: NJ now has the same problem. My wife and I are members of the Clifton NJ office of Pure. Yesterday we found out that the office will be open for 2 more days….We will be consulting with out attorney today and possibly calling the attorney general’s office to have the assests seized. Emma Karr, customer: We are being scammed! … This company has damaged many individuals and i hope a class action lawsuit takes place. Dec 18, 2007 at 12:58 pm

m, customer: I joined back in November… these people in Levittown, NY were nasty people from the beginning. They owe me two boxes of bars… they all can go scratch. They deserve that the company went out of business. I feel sorry for the poor souls that invested all this money… Dec 18, 2007 at 3:37 pm

Beth Hughes, customer: I have been a client for over 1 year and have had TREMENDOUS success on the plan. However, I am now owed 38 BOXES of bars and 5 weeks of weight loss, 6 weeks of stabilization, and 52 weeks of maintenance, with absolutely no guarantee that I will ever see a dime…. Dec 19, 2007 at 8:20 am

mar, customer: …As disappointed as I am for my personal losses I am more disappointed for the staff of the center, some of which have worked there for years only to find out a couple of weeks before Christmas that they are out of jobs. Any lawyers out there reading these posts? Dec 19, 2007 at 5:59 pm

Sue, customer: [I] am angry at the way this closing has been handled. I know that my counselors were still being encouraged to sell contracts up until the day THEY learned of the closings (and their own lay-offs) — and at that point the contract was non-refundable. They took thousands of dollars from people who would return the next week to find the centers were closing. OUTRAGEOUS! I’m ready for the class action suit if I am not refunded the money I paid for the program! Dec 19, 2007 at 7:02 pm

mommyjoe, customer: I have been a customer since April and have had GREAT SUCCESS on this program…I can’t afford to lose the money I’ve pre-paid, but it’s much worse to lose the program and the support I’ve been promised…. Dec 19, 2007 at 8:29 pm

I have finished my weighloss portion and am in maintenance. I lost 30 pounds and for my age, to lose anything is amazing.

I have hypoglycemia and the program leveled my sugar out and I have the best I have in years.

I lost the weight and it was fairly easy. I followed the program closely, but still ate out with friends. I was never hungry and still lost weight.

Now, I know how to eat balanced and well and the proper portions. The weight has stayed off almost a year and I know I can be normal weight and healthy for the rest of my life. I never have to be fat again.

    Did it cost? Yes.
    Was it worth it? Yes.
But, I was one of the fortunate ones who was near the end of the process. I have 3 months left on maintenance. I got the remaining bars last night - just in time. So, I’m not out money.

If I was in the beginning stages, I’d be furious and talking to an attorney.

    But, the program, itself, works.

To all of you that are uspet about the closing- everyone is! However, the company intends to close its doors with the utmost integrity, they could have just closed with no notice and not given anyone an opportunity to get product, programs or refunds- anyone due a refund will more than likely receive it! Please remember- no one wanted this to happen and it was not an easy decision- if you are a currrent client- know the staff is devastated and really wants to help you resolve this and answer your questions- be patient with them and kind to them- they have not only lost a career they loved, they have lost the clients and co workers they have built relationships with and are going through a holiday season unemployed and unsure of what 2008 will bring- THEY ALL WANT TO HELP- BE A LITTLE UNDERSTANDING!!!!

I was one of the ones who prepaid for all my bars up front. I was told last week that I would be refunded. I went in this morning to get a copy of that in writing before they close 1/4 and was told that I wouldn’t be receiving a refund because I signed a contract. They owe me 40 boxes of bars and have none at the center. Funny thing is that all the clients folders are not there anymore. Any suggestions on where to get bars or if anyone else is being told that there will be no refunds for bars?

I was a member of LA Weight Loss six to seven times. In the beginning I was successful on the program. However, after the first three times I could not loose any weight. I followed my plan precisely. It was very difficult for me to get weighed three times a week because it would make me extremely depressed. I was also discouraged to learn that the employees were not certified dieticians, they were regular people on the progran themselves learning as they went along. Needless to say LA Weightloss was a nightmare for me and it cost too much money. I am sorry to hear about the employees losing their jobs but I am happy to see the centers closing. Congrats to all those people who have lost weight, I hope you don’t gain it back like I did being that the program is not realistic.

I was a customer at LA weight loss for several months I had the best experience of a life time I weighed 217 LBS.

I lost 46 pounds in four months at the Mountain View California Center. I have just found out that pure weight loss or LA weight loss will be going out of business, I am truely sorry to hear that, just when I was looking forward in going back to rejoin.

    Thank you,

Until recently, I have been a very happy customer in Mass. I have been successful on the plan and have lost 70 lbs. However, I have not yet reached stabilization and my center has no more bars and no more books for maintanence.
I too am out money for the weeks/bars/juice as there is no guarantee my center will get the bars. In addition, I am concerned about the weight I lost as they will not be there to assist me as I continue.
My career path actual involves Securities Class Actions, so I have submitted an inquiry to one of the law firms that works with Class Actions to see if there is any interest from them in pursuing this as a class action.

Aly said My career path actual involves Securities Class Actions, so I have submitted an inquiry to one of the law firms that works with Class Actions to see if there is any interest from them in pursuing this as a class action.

Aly: How would a class action work in a case like this? (Hypothetically:) Would somebody who is out, say, $1000 really ever see their money? How much of it? How long would it take? Isn’t this company bankrupt?

I am curious, as the first few times I was notified as being eligible (utilities, or mortgage insurance or something), I filled out paperwork, submitted it, got notices for a year or two then received a check for 35 cents or so. I believe I had spent more on the stamp than I received. I later did the math and realized the total settlement - and the lawyers cut - was pretty significant but the individual checks were laughable. Is that typically the way it goes?

  • sean
    Dec 26, 2007 at 1:51 pm

Who manufactures and/or supplies these bars?
Seems like there are a lot of people who would continue to buy them if they could.
Perhaps they’d provide a credit if future purchases were assured… or doesn’t it work like that?

  • Aly
    Dec 26, 2007 at 4:18 pm

If it becomes a class action, there is no guarantee that it will progress into a case where individuals can be reimburses as a judge may dismiss it. The lawyers and the claims administrators usually get a big chunk of the total settlement so it is often cents on the dollar. (In my work - I don’t see any of that money) If the company is bankrupt, the class becomes one of the creditors in the court case. In addition, there could be others that are sued such as the owners (if private).
As the company is based in PA, I submitted a complaint with the attorney general of PA. I suggest others do the same:
    http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/complaintforms/bcp_form.aspx

You can also submit a complaint to your local attorney general - I will be submitting one to mine in MA.

The attorney general in Oregon already has a case out against Pure since July as they felt the costs were misleading. I may also contact the AG in Oregon to see if they are planning on pursuing this further as a class action based upon the recent turn of events.

As for your question on the manufacuter of the the bars - my guess is they have a contract with Pure and therefore they probably can not redistribute the same bars without the company.

Are you owed a refund form Pure Weight Loss centers? Were you given a refund application? Their doors are closing on January 4,2008 their refund application that you were given within the last week states that we should allow them up to 8 weeks to process our refund application. We are being given a small amount of products in order for us to simmer down until they close their doors, who knows what will happen when they do. Yet within the past few weeks corporate offices decided to have a discount sale on the products that we paid in full for. One has to wonder if this was an attempt to liquidate the entire inventory, you have to ask yourself now, why was that done if bars are still owed to us? Have you also noticed in the past month that your favorite lite flavor has not been in stock? If you have paid with a credit card, you may be able to file a chargeback with your credit card company. Just call them and tell them the truth, the company is going out of business, they owe you a refund, and you would like to file a chargeback. You are very lucky if you paid with a credit card. If you paid with a check or cash like me, I am sorry. If you used Care Credit you may be able to file some type of chargeback or refund, call them and ask for more information. But in any sense, please help each other out by filling out the Attorney General complaint forms. Also, keep in mind that the service center employees are victims of this situation also. They are losing their jobs, they were not given notice and are being told that they should be expecting shipments that never come. They are taking all the heat. We can do something about this and it needs to be done prior to January 1st 2008. Pure Weight Loss has their corporate office in Horsham, PA. In order to be effective we need to gather enough information and complaints so that their assets can be frozen prior to the imminent bankruptcy. The Attorney General’s office in Pennsylvania is aware of the sudden closure. They are looking into the refund situation but they need to hear from customers who are waiting. Contact your state attorney general and the PA attorney general(their coporate office is in PA) also goto http://www.pureweightloss.info to learn more on how you can get your money back and where from. I joined la weight loss in june of 2006 and have success so far but I am greatly disappointed. I bought all of my bars in advance on Care Credit and when the interest got so high I transfered my account to Chase. I wonder if I could do a charge back with them for the amount I have already paid. and the amount I currently owe? I know Jenny Craig has offered to give us free program but if we eat her prepared food does that not defeat the whole idea of learning to eat right? I would like to have my money back so I can use it for anyother program I choose.

Call Chase customer service, and maybe Care Credit. It’s worth a try. I’ve heard the credit card cos. can be pretty helpful on chargebacks. They can at least stop charging you interest, and possibly can issue a credit to you account.

I too, am quite stunned by the closing of the centers here in PA quite abruptly. I have been off and on the program for 5+ yrs between my 3 pregnancies. It is really great and really works. I have not done any lites or bars and I am seeing success with the purple plan. The purple plan is 2 proteins (6oz), 3 fruits, 4 veg, 2 starches, 1 dairy and 1 fat.

I’m in Ohio, and started my program back in March. I’ve lost close to 40 pounds and the program was working for me. However, today I hear about it closing and out of the almost $3000 for my program I’ve paid all but $700 of it already. How do we get our money back? And where do we turn now to lose the rest of the weight? I hope that the AG in Ohio will be able to help those of us here as well as everyone else in the US.

Does anyone know of a protein bar that is comparable to their Fudge Brownie? I swear I’m addicted and I’ve started gaining weight because I can’t find anything I like. I made it through maintenance and they owed me a rebate but I guess I’m much luckier than a lot of you. Hey, YOU can do it. LA really didn’t do it. They just gave me someone to “Answer” to and now, I don’t have that and I’m starting to struggle. So any encouragement would be great!

First off you can get the same type of soy bars from this website. They ship quick and sometimes offer free samples. http://mydietshopz.com/

Second to Sean, whatever credit card you charged the program or bars to is the card you would have to file the dispute with.

Third save all your paperwork! If you don’t get your refund from the refund form that you can get by emailing custservice@pureweightloss.com, then I would absolutely look into the class action suit. Good luck everyone!

    Sue,

Never tried them but this website that I recommended has some. http://mydietshopz.com/browbarwitch.html

Also if you make your own brownies you can subsititue unsweetened apple sauce for oil and try using egg whites or egg beaters instead of whole eggs.

I think one of the most unfortunate things is that if you go on ebay you can find many of the products including stabilzation and maintenance books. Umh I wonder how many of our pre paid for bars are on that site and where did the seller get them?

  • Denise
    Jan 7, 2008 at 9:27 pm

I was one of the fortunate ones…I have only a few months left on my maintainance plan(MARCH) and was able to pick up the remainder of my bars at the center. I just happened to go in before the holidays to get some stock before my out of town travels. When i returned to town following the new year, I stopped by my center to see if i could retain my records. The associate told me they had to send ALL Client information to headquarters, if they did not comply they would not get paid. I couldn’t believe it. Someone out there has all our personal information, photos and records. This was extremely disturbing to me.

  • Denise

I joined LA weight loss September 07 and tried their program. I must say that I am not surprised that they closed their doors. First of all, it is SUPER EXPENSIVE because you have to pay for the program upfront. You have to buy (otherwise their guarantee for you to lose weight is not given) their bars which are not really very good and if you don’t lose what they want you to, they try to push their juice (cleanser or whatever). Their diet is too strict and they recommend you take their “pills” which are to speed up your metablism. They boast that you don’t have to go to meetings (like Weight Watchers) but you end up going two to three times a week for the one to one counseling/weight in session. I went for about three months and decided it was a crock. Unfortunately, I lost my “upfront” membership and ended up throwing out those nasty bars. This is not a diet you can call realistic.

  • Barbara
    Jan 8, 2008 at 1:35 pm

I have been a counselor at Pure weightloss for a while. Yes we were encouraged to sell cpntract up until they day we found out unfortunetly. That was very unpleasant. The diet does work I did it. I have no clue if anyone will get there money back. What I do know is the man who owned the company has not filed bankrupcy. I also know the company screwed a lot of employees over and tons from my area plan to try to sue. I wish every one the best of luck with there diets. Think about it you may be out a weightloss center, and some money but I am wihtout a job and two weeks before Christmas they just said dont come back:(

HELP! I, too, went to my center to find it abruptly closed. I already paid (through care credit) upfront for 31 weeks weight loss, 6 weeks stabilization and 52 weeks maintenance totalling 89 weeks of program and I only went approximately 24 weeks….I also purchased 45 boxes of la lites…..I contacted care credit and they are sending me a dispute letter….I hope I can get this refunded…anyone else using care credit should call them, too. If anyone else has any other information, please let me know. Thanks, Karen from New York - Please E-mail: me at:justkaren922@aol.com

ITS A LOSE-LOSE SITUATION FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED. YOU HAVE FIRST THE PEOPLE THAT POURED A LOT OF MONEY INTO A PROGRAM AND FEEL ABANDONED AND CHEATED. YOU THEN HAVE THE EMPLOYEES THAT ARE OUT OF A JOB AND PROBABLY FEEL BETRAYED BY THE EMPLOYER.
LA/PURE WEIGHT LOSS DOES WORK FOR SOME PEOPLE AND NOT SO MUCH FOR OTHERS. EVERYONE’S BODY IS DIFFERENT. WHAT WORKS FOR ONE PERSON MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU. BUT DON’T DESPAIR, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. DON’T GIVE UP!

SECOND YES YOU CAN FILL OUT A DISPUTE LETTER WITH THE CREDIT CARD OR SERVICE YOU CHARGED YOUR PROGRAM OR PRODUCTS TO. THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL GET A REFUND BUT ITS WORTH A SHOT TO GET THE BALL ROLLING. MAKE SURE YOU CONTACT THE CREDITOR TO FIND OUT WHAT THEIR POLICY IS ON TIME FRAME.

I have been with LA/Pure Weight loss since June of 2006 I lost 40 lbs.
We had so many different councilors none of them could keep track of what was going on. My daughter also did the program and lost 90lbs. When she bulked bars for her stablization they did not charge her correctly and so she never got her rebate. She was interview for a chance to be a poster person, but for some reason when the councilor she had been seeing left her files disappeared and to my knowledge were never found. I called on Wed Jan 2 at 5:45 and was told they had just received 300 boxes of lites. The were closing a 7 and I live some distance from the center so my daughter when for me on Fri, Jan4 to pick up my 58 boxes of bars and all they had left were 48 chocolate carmel crunch. I don’t believe that the gave out tghat many boxes of bars to active memebers.

I have filed complaintes with BBB, waste of time, and also with the KS and PA Attorney General and have heard back from both. The PA attorney General ask me to fill out some more paper work. If the is a class action suite and the cost is not very much i would like to be a part of it. I am owed $900 for unused weeks of program stableization, maintance and undelivered bars.

There is HOPE!! If you purchased any or all of your plan using a credit card (provided you didn’t take the one they tried to get you to sign up for) you can dispute the charges. I littlerally just got off the phone with my credit card company and it was no hassle and everything was taken care of. i will have my money back (minue the weeks that I did use and the bars I did use) with in 2 business days! My father recommended this to me and at first I didn’t believe him that anything would happen. But sure enough, I called my credit card company, explained the cituation, and they filed the dispute with in minutes. Please let me know if any of you have questions about how to do this. Good Luck!!

I realize that I didn’t give my email address if anyone has “plan related” questions. Please, I ask of you…do not email me regarding refunds and how to get your money because I do not know. I myself had to call corporate today because I didn’t get payed for the final week I worked nor vacation time that was coming to me and had to do all of the dirty work for the company. Therefore, please do not bombard me with refund questions because I am looking for answers as well. You can email me at [email address withheld]. I thank you in advance for respecting my wishes.

“kjk” I’ll have to say that I thought it absolutely rediculous that I had to bring home 44 boxes of bars that I prepaid for. Oh and the employees wre told not to call anyone and to inform clients “if” they came in. So…I would say that the intentions were to skip town. I never did receive anything in the mail, and I’m sure I won’t receive any money back either. My stabilization, and 52 week maintenance which was also paid for. Sad part is I’m sure with a bankrupcy, if that was the case we are all screwed. I shoud get my money back for my more then a year supply of bars that will be bad in 6 months. CANT WAIT TILL THE CLASS ACTION SUIT.

SHAME ON Pure weight loss aka LAWL!!!!!!

I’m still not believing how screwed up this is. I should’ve known something was up when they closed the location closest to my home. I’m still owed 3 weeks of weight loss and 8 boxes of bars. I was out of town when the announcement was made to get your pre-paid products and was floored when I went to the center only to find a note saying Jenny Craig is offering discounts. You’d think they would have enough decency to have a recorded message informing clients on what steps need to be taken to receive some form of refund. I’m researching to see if there’s any complaints being filed in the Maryland area. I really liked the plan, which makes this so upsetting.

    Hi,
I am the LA client since 2001 and lost 57 lbs. In 2004 I renewed my membership and bought bars, cereal bars and meal supplements for my daughter and me. Then I had some family problem and could not stay on the program. On December 8 I went to pick up some stuff, and girl said that she could not give me everything, since holidays are coming up and next delivery will be in January 4. I got two boxes of bars and left 55 boxes of lites, 44 cereal boxes, 6 meal replacements.

I paid for all of my bars when I signed on with LOL. Before their doors I made sure I got all them, too. Persistance pays off. I would be willing to sell them, plus shipping, to anyone who wants them. Also have two bottles of juice and a case of LA Replacement drinks. I’m going on my own on this and heading to the gym. In the three months I was on the plan I learned how to eat and I know I can get to my goal.

They called me right before Christmas and I actually asked for a gift certificate as a present. I’m sure glad I didn’t get one because it would be worthless now. They owe me $550 which I’m sure I’ll never see. I really liked this program and the bars. If anyone wants to sell their bars, please contact me at [email address withheld]

I am a Pure Weight Loss client who is stilled owed for 75 boxes of LA lites (over $750) that I prepaid. How do I get my money back for the unused product? I enjoyed the program at the beginning but the customer service and turn over of staff became annoying. Who do I contact for a refund?

    Jan 17, 2008 at 1:08 pm

I started my membership on the 30th of March 2007. Obviously as everyone knows I’m out of the money that I out on their CareCredit card. Did anyone else not get a copy of their enrollment form? I searched through all of my Pure records and it was not there. My husband and I both don’t recall getting any paperwork from when I signed up. I’m wondering if this means that I’m just out of luck when it comes to getting any of my money back from the credit card company and more then likely the company itself as well. It’s just not right that they can do something like this to people who are looking for help. I lost almost 40 pounds in the short time that I was on the program but I have a very long way to go. I’m located in Ohio, and I also filed a complaint with my attorney general. Good luck to everyone.

Hello everyone. just thought I would throw this out there. I was looking on eBay to try and purchase some Lites that way. There is someone on there selling bulk boxes of lites claiming that she “bought everything in bulk and lost her weight a lot faster than anticipated.” now I’m all for someone losing weight faster than anticipated but explain to me how much weight she had to have lost so quickly to where she can have several listings on ebay stating this and selling at least 15 boxes of lites per listing…did she lose her weight in a matter of a month or something??? She must have at least 10 postings on eBay selling these bars…sounds to me like she is not being honest and that my friends is probably why we were not able to get bars owed to us before the center closed their doors! For all I know, she could be a former employee trying to make a buck. In one sense I don’t blame them, they probably got screwed over like we did. But in another sense, it is not fair to us!

This is for Sara above looking for juices. I was told by the burse that worked at my center that you can substitute the juice on the Fast forward program for 4 small oranges per day or 1/2 a cantalope (cut the 1/2 catalope into 4 equal size pieces) per day. Good luck!

This really sucks, I’ve been with them since ‘06 and needless to say I’m in the same boat as most of you all. They owe me well over $1000. I would be okay if they would just give me what I paid for. That’s the least they could do since they are supposedly in bankrupt and the possibilty of a monetary refund is very slim. Does anyone have any info on what steps New Yorkers should take? Please post any info if possible. Thanks

I was on the program and I have completed it and doing well. I’ve experienced nothing but great things from LA weight loss. The only bad experience I faced was the corporation wheeling new employees in and out from the centers. I am still waiting to receive my refund for the completion of the program. The last time I stepped foot in my local center office, I had just completed my program right before Thanksgiving. Today is the first day I have actually read the upsetting news, is shocking.

I just read that the PA attorney general Tom Corbett filed a lawsuit against PURE Weight Loss and the owner Vahan Karian (aka Vahan Karabajakian) personally. You can call 1-877-888-4877 to file a complaint. They recommend that even if you were impacted in another state that you also file a complaint with the PA attorney general. To see the press release go to http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/press.aspx?id=3349. You can also file an on-line complaint. Also, I just found out that PURE filed for Bancruptcy on 1/11/2008

    Jan 25, 2008 at 4:49 am

I too have been a client of LA/Pure Weight Loss. I joined in 2006. At first I lost weight without the bars, I just said that I did not want to get started on the bars because I would not be eating them forever. They were not mandatory for me. I was still approached about purchasing them, but not really a hard sell like others have stated. I gradually got to the point that I was in Maintenance Mode (not losing much). I was then talked into the bars, (that was the reason I was not losing.) I don’t feel that they helped like they said. I was given extra weeks because I lost only half of what I was supposed to lose. Then as others have stated, employees disappeared, then the LA center was closed down in my town and I had to travel to another town (3 times a week). Manager from my first center that was moved to the other town was gotten rid of. Went through a couple of other employees. I was talked into a deal where I could purchase all of my weight loss weeks back for a certain amount of money. Basically starting over. I never really liked this new center and the time I had to spend in driving, along with the gasoline. Not friendly, just wanted to push product ect. Just like others have stated. The name did change from LA to Pure. I think this began my downfall. I guess I was just not getting motivated. I was ready to go back and get started again when I read all the Pure Centers had closed. I know that I never got into Stabilization or Maintenance. I have time left, but I have no idea how to figure how much money I am out of. I was not given any new contracts when I was given extra weeks or when I purchased all of my weight loss weeks back. I was at least given product, that I was owed, when they were trying to sell me more bulk bars.
I kept telling them that there was too much sugar in the bars, like a candy bar. My doctor was trying to label me diabetic anyways. I didn’t need all of the sugar in the bars and other products. I now think that the employee must have known that things were not looking good. I was never contacted by the last center, when I had not been there regularly. I don’t think that they really cared. I was not notified that they were closing. So I was not able to get the information about how to finish my program, that I had paid for. Now what am I supposed to do. I will never pay upfront for anything again. So many gyms want you to do the same thing. Then they run off with your money. I would like to contact the Attorney General in my state and in Pa. But I have no idea how to figure how much money I am out. I do not have my client ID either. I hope this man and his top people go to prison forever. They live their life of luxury, while they are scamming us. If anyone is able to offer any help on how to do the plan, stabilization and maintenance, I would be very appreciative of any help. I don’t even think that I was put on the correct plan at times. Very unclear when you are to switch plans ect. Thanks in advance. Also, I am very very concerned about my file and the possibility of my information being stolen. Believe me, you do not get help from the police ect. They just don’t care. They will take your report and that is about it. Sorry about so much venting. If anyone can help me out, please let me know how to get in touch with you. Thanks again.

By the way you can google Pure Weight Loss and look for the link to a website called indeed.com. It will just blow your mind away what the employees are having to say, if you can get through a lot of mud slinging by some. But still some helpful information.

That Ebay seller is definitely an ex employee I recognize her name from another forum…Oh well, I guess she deserves to earn some money because her last paycheck probably bounced. However, she also stole product that was purchased by /owed to clients. I’ll be alerting the PA Attorney General about Ebay next and thanks for the heads up!

I would like to ask anyone to please contact me with a phone number or address for the “supposedly” refund requests for Pure Weight loss formerly LA Weight Loss. I recently in November signed up for the entire program, paid for all my weeks, lites, etc an excess of over $3000.00 without any mention of them closing. I filled out the refund form, sent to the address provided and it was returned undeliverable. What upsets me is that they want a copy of your contract and there is no way to get that. The facility I signed up at was going to be sending their files to another facility. The boxes that were packed and in the waiting area are still there today in the same building. No one ever picked up those files. So how do you prove anything??? Anyone that has had any luck please notify me. Thanks

I joined LAWL Dec 29, 2005. Was told nothing about their products, and was told what my price would be. I paid it. Went back for my first weight Jan 2,2006, and then was told of the products, but when I presented the note from my doctor, and I also informed them I was allergic to Soy, they said, “no problem, we can still help you.” In April, 2006, I went from 199 to 189, and was thrilled at that. Went on hold, to go back home for an emergency, came, back, and everything had been turned upside down. The people that workerd there, were no longer there, there were people that once they read I was not buying their products, would not even look at my journal, and three times I was not weighed at all. When I mentioned this, they said, that I basically just need to talk to them and not anything else. By, the end of 2006, the clinic here was worse, and only one girl was in there, and they only worked certain hours. To make a long story short, I lost money, I lost motivation and decided I could not trust any weight loss plan. If you can buy their products because of soy, you are left with no sort of help from them. I wish every one success in their endeavwer to loose their weight.

I too am an LA Weight Loss client. Today, 1/31, I received a notice from JENNY CRAIG! Evidently they are taking on LA Weight Loss clients. “If you have a current Pure Weight Loss contract, Jenny Craig will provide its program to you - without any service fee - for the time remaining on your Pure WeightLoss contract.” And so on. Also, if your contract has expired, there is a 30-day free coupon. Check your mailboxes and see what you find. You can call 1-800-597-JENNY and make an appointment, or go in to your local one with your contract and see if they can help you. I am definitly going to look into it! I hope this helps at least one of you. Good Luck

I joined LA Weight/Pure Weight Loss and lost 66 lbs. On the program, I was very successful. I was very disappointed to learn that the center was closing, I am out of a lot of money. I purchased a lot of product and was really looking forward to continuing the program. Now, I just want to get rid of the product that I have on hand. I have 8 boxes vanilla meal replacement drink, 6 bottles of Fast Foward, several cases of Honey Nougat, Chocolate lites, and Hot Chocolate. The company still owes me 24 boxes of lites. Beware, I sent in the claims form that posted on the web-page and it was returned undeliverable.

I have several Pure Weight Loss products available for sale. I have Fast Forward, Excel, Reduce Plus, Eliminate, Slim Downs, Jet Start, Cereal Bars, Biscotti and some Lites. Anyone in the Akron, Ohio area that would be intereste, please send me contact information. I was not an employee - this is product I purchased prior to their closing. Like many of you, I sent my refund information to the Horsham PA address and had it returned as undeliverable.

If anyone is interested in Pure Weight Loss products in the Maryland area. Please send me your contact information or telephone number. I am a client that lost 60lbs on the program. Like so many others I to purchased the product prior to closing. When I learned of the company closing I took as much as I could fear of lossing everything. Pure Weight Loss still owe me several boxes of lites that I wlll probably never get reimbursed for. I also had my refund information return undeliverable. If anyone has any information on how to get your money back, please let us know.

I would also like to sell my products that I have. I have alot of Fast forward juice, Eliminate and Reduce Plus. I live in Scranton, PA. If anyone is interested in these products I would love to sell them at a reduced rate.

I recieved a Notice of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Case today, which probably means we won’t get a cent back from this scumbag. It states that I cannot try to contact him or attempt to collect the debt or take other action in violation of the Bankruptcy Code and that if I do I may be penalized!! This is unreal. We have to file proof of claim forms with the bankruptcy court in Philadelphia and a meeting of the creditors will take place in Phila on March 14, 08. We aren’t required to attend the meeting, but we should file these claim forms. I am so disgusted by this. They owe me at least $1,500.00, but I used Care Credit, thank God. I am filing a dispute of charges with Care Credit also.
Good luck to everyone. Keep writing for news and support.

I had stopped going to my center as I was between jobs and couldn’t afford to pay for more weeks. I probably have 20 boxes of bars due to me; they must have a warehouse full of those damn things. I’m going to check who the manufacturer was and see if I can contact them. The Attorney Generals should be looking into that angle, as some retribution could be gained if some customers could get boxes of bars. Small bit of justice, but anything is better than nothing. I am going to contact my Attorney General here in Maryland as there were many centers in the state.

I’ve lost $678.40 to these crooks. I’ve filled out their refund form to no avail. They did not close their doors on Jan 4th. They closed it before then because they were closed prior to the new year so all the company info about contacting the local stores was a bunch of BS. What did they do with all the money?

I too am a victim of LA/Pure Weight Loss. And also sent the certified refund form the 1st week of January to receive it back undeliverable too! Joined a couple weeks before they closed and paid $900+ for the LA lites…. Has anyone received word from Care Credit if they are refunding the unreceived product? Just wondering. Feeling Hopeless in Massachusetts!

I also was a client of LA Weight Loss and have lost 75 lbs. I am now on Maintenance and was very upset that they were closing as my counselor was my mentor. I am interested in purchasing Fast Forward and peanut butter lites, If anyone has these products please e-mail me. And to all your ladies who are on maintenance or haven’t gotten there yet, you can do it just don’t give up. They may have scamed us closing the way they did but the diet does work if you stick to it. Keep up the good work!!!

    Theresa,
Good job to you too! I too am on maininance after losing 35 lbs. May not sound like much, but on a 5ft.2in, small framed woman, it’s a lot. I have kept it off for a year now, but I never received my rebates. One for reaching my goal, and the other for maintaining for one year. Does anyone know how we can get our records? Thanks for your great attitude Theresa. =)

I was an employee of Pure Weight Loss. This is my story…I was hired in October for a position in the Central Illinois market. I was from St. Louis. My family (husband and daughter) traveled the 150+ miles for the interview and was promised a career that would be very lucrative while helping people achieve their weight loss goals. The Regional Director interviewed me and suggested I accept a position as Center Manager at a location some 60 miles further from where I interviewed. My family and I agreed and quickly went searching for a rental home on craigslist. Long story short, with no assistance from Pure Weight Loss, we spent about $2,000 on the move. I was in the position for 6 weeks, all the while discussing with my managers that I am concerned that the income I was receiving was not what was promised. They assured me, come January everything would be gravy. We got the news that our center was closing on December 15. That morning I had signed up a woman who had been with us previously but didn’t come in to center, didn’t follow plan and didn’t meet with any success. The previous day my Regional Manager had called her and convinced her that there was no better time than now (2 weeks before the holidays) than for her to re-commit herself. We completed her paperwork when I called my area manager to share the success. In her first sentence she said, “Did you get her to take her product home?” I responded, “No, she’ll be back in 2 days.” She said, “Oh honey, we have to talk.” That’s when she informed me that we would be closing nationwide as of January 4, 2008. We had to liquidate any product we could and call all 160 active clients and any inactive clients to inform them. A task left to me, a new manager and a 22 year old part time employee. Devistating. This is still devistating me and my family. It has financially broke us. We muttled through the remainder of our 6 month lease and had to move back to St. Louis for lack of work. I’m looking for a class action lawsuit. The clients and employees, including myself, are owed. Did I mention my last paycheck bounced? The account was already closed. Please, contact me if you know of a lawsuit! Did you all get your notification that they filed bankruptcy? Jerks!

    Angie…

How horrible for you!! They were really jerks to everyone. The refund check I received bounced tooo. Isn’t it against the law to write checks on a closed account??? That is criminal not civil I believe. I have talked to a few lawyers, but no one in my town is interested in being head of a civil suit against these clowns. We need a bigger attn firm then them. Firms in my town usually only have 1-3 lawyers in them (small town). Let us know how you make out with the labor dispute. I hope you filed with your state labor relations board about the paycheck.
