Meal Prep Franchise Dream Dinners Appoints New CEO

by sean on February 18th, 2008

dreamdinnerslogo (FranchisePick.com)  Here is the press release announcing the appointment of Darin Leonard as meal prep franchise Dream Dinners CEO.

The Meal Prep (Or Meal Assembly Kitchen) segment of franchising has come under increasing scrutiny, with commenters on FranchisePick.com alleging that stores are closing in large numbers, but the troubles are being kept quiet by the franchisors and groups such as the Easy Meal Prep Association

It’s curious that the press release writer seems to hint at industry troubles, and noticeably avoids mentioning the number of open Dream Dinners locations (which the Easy Meal Prep prep group lists at 233, Entrepreneur magazine lists at 199, a Recent TIME magazine story quotes 278 and the Dream Dinners website doesn’t list.)

Dream Dinners Announces New CEO

SNOHOMISH, Wash., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ — Dream Dinners, the leaders and innovators of the meal-assembly industry, are starting 2008 with some bold moves. Stephanie Allen and Tina Kuna, co-founders of Dream Dinners and the originators of the meal-assembly industry, announced this week the placement of Darin Leonard as CEO to lead the evolution of the brand and the industry.

Darin is excited to be jumping aboard at such a pivotal time in this industry. “This industry has some unique challenges ahead of it, but Dream Dinners is poised well and clearly at a competitive advantage to continue to lead the industry. Stephanie and Tina have done a spectacular job of setting up a Franchisor support system that focuses on the customer,” Leonard said.

Dream Dinners, a privately held company based in Snohomish, Washington and recognized as the creators of the meal-assembly Industry, continues to lead the industry in store count and double digit growth since inception in March of 2002. While Darin steps into his position as CEO, the founders will continue to play active roles in the business relating to their unique talents. Tina Kuna will serve as CFO for the business, while Stephanie Allen as President will concentrate on strategic development.

Darin is amazed at the early success of Dream Dinners and recognizes both the challenges and the opportunities in taking this industry from a niche market to mainstream . “Nobody in this industry is positioned as well as we are to take it to the next level,” said Leonard. The plans and strategy necessary to re-define the industry requires new thinking and he is passionate about the possibilities in front of Dream Dinners.

Anyone else see a problem with prospective franchisees in 2008 only getting data from the end of 2006?

Oh, i have a huge problem with this. And anyone thinking of buying a Dream Dinners should as well. I am going to start calling each owner to see if they still own their store or have sold it. I know in my area, [One franchisee] has shut down all three of her CA stores.

    Michael,

What happens if the information contained in that section of the UFOC isn’t updated correctly when the next version is published?

Darin Leonard is a Fat Ass Scum Bag. Way to go Tina & Stephaine to hire someone who will stand in place of yourselfs and LIE!

    PissedDDOwner:
While your eloquence is appreciated, can you be a bit more specific and factual with your complaints? What representations were made to you? What lies were you told? What makes you doubt that a new CEO isn’t a positive move? There are people considering this franchise… I’m sure they’d appreciate any specifics that can help them make an informed decision.

I visited a Southern CA store last night. This is a wonderful, time and money saving idea. It may take time to catch on. This is the only service of this type that I am aware of.

Sea, I cant beleive it has been almost 3 mos. since I have posted. I would like to answer the questions that you asked me.

When I opened my Dream Dinners Store the summer of 05′ I was told that I would have at least 500 customers (guests) a month. Tina & Stephanie showed me their corporate store numbers (300) each store. I quickly learned this was not true. We went through 3 different coaches all promising help with marketing, NOTHING ever came out of it. When I probed further, I was always told it was MY fault.
With the help of Meal Assembly Watch, I am now standing firm that I was sold a failed concept.

Darin Leonard is too late in helping Dream Dinners. yes, they are trying to do things, but I have not a jump in business at all- Darin is quoted as saying, you have not crossed the chasm. (some book he promotes)

I listen/asked Dave Ramsey, and He says its time to pull the plug!

Here is my next question: Dream Dinners, Inc. said that if I pay them $30,000 and sign a legal paper that I wont sue I can get out of my contract. (I am just learning that other owners have been told this but they haven’t paid) What is my legal right? Can you help me?
