Feel no Pain, No Gain. Fitness Club Gets Liquor License

(FranchisePick.com) Want six-pack abs without all the sweating and, um, discipline? New Orleans has got YOUR kind of fitness club.

The new fitness center in nearby Hammond, LA will not only have a deli & a Starbucks, they’ll offer “a variety of alcoholic beverages such as daiquiris, mix drinks, wine and beer.”

At the Hammond City Council meeting Tuesday night, Olaf Ross, proprietor of North Cypress Fitness Studio LLC., asked for a high and low alcohol content permit from the City of Hammond for the cabana bar and restaurant that will be in his new facility, located at 1606 South Magnolia Street. The permit was conditionally approved pending inspections.

District 4 Councilwoman Kathy Montecino said, “It is a new concept for a fitness center and it has a closed membership so why wouldn’t I further the business by voting for the alcohol permit.”

The new location, set to open in March, will include a variety of alcoholic beverages such as daiquiris, mix drinks, wine and beer.
The fitness studio will also include a 22,000-foot pool area, a deli, Starbucks, steam rooms and tennis courts that will host four competitions per year.
