Dozens of Lives Ruined by Cleaning Franchise Scam
(Franchisepick.com) Buyer beware.
Franchise attorney & blogger Michael Webster posted a summary of an unfortunate franchise scam in Canada that preyed on individuals and families, many of them recent immigrants, who sought to better their lives by investing in a cleaning franchise. These weren’t people looking for a way to “get rich quick,” they were hardworking people willing to scrub toilets and mop floors to make a better life for their families.
After investing and not receiving what was promised, they found the company had “declared bankruptcy.” Yet here were the same people, in the same office, running the same ads under a different name and corporate entity. That will sound eerily familiar to those of you who followed - or were affected by - the Java Jo’z franchise and Cuppy’s Coffee franchise controversies covered on FranchisePick.Com earlier this year.
