Asian-Americans from Mississippi are the Top Entrepreneurs
(FranchisePick.Com) Know anyone who likes their fish raw but their pickles deep-fried? Who has a fondness for drinking Oolong Sweet Tay? They may among the nation’s most dynamic entrepreneurs, according to a national report.
The annual Kauffman Index of Entrepreneurial Activity reports:
- Entrepreneurial activity from 1996 to 2006 remained relatively constant
- On average, 0.29 percent of the adult population created a business each month
- 465,000 new businesses are launched monthly.
- Montana, Mississippi and Georgia had the most entrepreneurial activity
- Mississippi, Hawaii and Rhode Island had the largest increases in entrepreneurial activity over the last 10 years.
- Asians had the highest increase in the rate of entrepreneurial activity
- Native-born children of immigrant entrepreneurs started businesses at a substantially higher rate high than children of non-immigrants at 0.27 percent.
