Pure Weight Loss Chain Closing: Many Questions, Few Answers
(FranchisePick.Com) The abrupt closing of 400 Pure Weight Loss centers nationwide, which has left thousands of members owed hundreds, even thousands of dollars in products and services, is remarkable in the complete lack of information being provided even to the its own soon-to-be-unemployed staff members. Vahan Karian, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, would not speak to the media. The company’s attorney did not return calls. Pure Weight Loss’ public relations firm would disclose how many diet centers and employees were affected by the closure.

December 19, 2007 Philly.com posted: “In a terse statement, Pure Weight Loss said it would close Jan. 4 after 18 years because of “fierce competition from the Internet; the introduction of Alli, the over-the-counter weight-loss pill, and other commercial diet programs; combined with a difficult economic environment.”

I do hope someone, somewhere can enlighten me
on how to get the products I purchased. The
phone number I was given by Medical Weight Loss to call about the products does not work -
it is eternally busy, but I’m thinking it’s more like
the phone is off the hook. The application that is shown on the website for a refund, states it does not include Michigan - so what do we people
in Michigan do to get our bars?

I went on “Pregnancy Hold” nin early April 2007. I had my baby in Novemer and in December, I was ready to start dieting again. When I went online I noticed the company was closing down on Jan 4th. The next day, I tried calling my site and no one answered. On December 26th, I tried calling again around 11:00am and still no answer. I then called the 8oo # that was provided on the website and when I told the rep who had answered my situation and if the location would be open today, she said all centers were open from 3:00pm-6:00pm. I went to the site I normally would have gone too, but it had signs all over the windows stating their location was closed and to go to another location. The next day, I tried going to the other location, but it too was closed. Now when I try to find the 800 # to call and get some answers there is nothing. They owe me hundreds of dollars and I want it back!!!!!!
